The Gaza Strip is enduring a humanitarian crisis of unimaginable scale, marked by relentless suffering and urgent needs. As of May 2025, over 2.1 million people—mostly women and children—are trapped in a cycle of starvation, displacement, and despair, with no aid allowed into the region for nearly two months. The healthcare system teeters on collapse, food stocks are depleted, and entire communities have been uprooted. This is the worst humanitarian crisis in 18 months, a stark reminder of the urgency for global action.

The ongoing conflict has led to extensive displacement, especially in northern Gaza, where residents who remained are enduring extreme food scarcity. Access to fresh produce and protein-rich foods like meat, chicken, and fish has been virtually nonexistent for months. Even basic vegetables are scarce and priced beyond the reach of most families. With markets depleted and supply chains severed, many are subsisting on limited canned goods, while others resort to consuming animal feed or even grass to stave off hunger. The region is effectively cut off, and the soaring cost of the few available food items has rendered survival increasingly challenging for those trapped in the area.

In response, Equalall has mobilized its resources and partners to deliver critical aid to those most affected. Through coordinated efforts, Equalall is providing relief to communities in desperate need.

What’s Happening in Gaza Right Now?

Gaza’s humanitarian crisis has reached unprecedented levels, driven by a prolonged blockade, military operations, and restricted aid access. No humanitarian or commercial supplies have entered the Strip, leaving 2.1 million people without food, medicine, fuel, or clean water. The UN reports that food stocks are exhausted, with families surviving on one meal a day, if at all. Flour has run out, bakeries are shutting down, and food prices have surged by 1,400% compared to the ceasefire period from January to March 2025.

Displacement affects 90% of Gaza’s population—1.9 million people—many living in tents, cars, or open spaces. The healthcare system is in ruins, with only a handful of hospitals partially functional. Over 111,000 people have been injured, and 47,000 have died in Gaza since the conflict escalated. Water and sanitation crises have led to outbreaks of infectious diseases, with 10,000 cases of acute malnutrition among children reported since January 2025.

Equalall: Leading the Charge in Gaza’s Relief Efforts

Since October 2023, Equalall has been actively providing daily hot meals to approximately 200 individuals in North Gaza, totalling around 4,000 meals each month. This initiative primarily supports displaced families who have lost their homes and are now residing in classrooms after multiple relocations. The organization focuses its efforts on two schools in the Salateen area and the surrounding neighbourhood, delivering meals that include staples like rice, lentils, pasta, and canned vegetables. When available, local alternatives are incorporated to adapt to the challenging conditions. This meal distribution offers essential support to families struggling to meet their basic nutritional needs amid the ongoing crisis.

Equalall is a trusted organization dedicated to delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza with transparency and accountability. Here’s how Equalall is making a difference:

    • Transparency: Equalall provides detailed reports on how funds are allocated, ensuring donors know exactly where their money goes. Regular updates include breakdowns of expenditures on food, medical supplies, and shelter.

    • Verification: Donors can verify Equalall’s impact through third-party audits and partnerships with reputable organizations like the UN and Red Crescent. Equalall’s website offers access to financial statements and project outcomes, fostering trust.

    Challenges we Face

Operating in North Gaza presents formidable challenges for Equalall’s relief efforts. The ongoing blockade and restricted access have made sourcing and delivering food both difficult and costly. Our dedicated on-ground partners and local kitchen team, comprising 6 to 8 workers daily, face significant risks as they procure ingredients and distribute meals to those in need. The average cost to feed one person ranges between $2 and $3, encompassing expenses for food, labor, firewood, and high check cashing fees, which currently stand at 15–20%. Despite these obstacles, we remain committed to serving vulnerable communities, ensuring they receive essential nourishment amid the crisis.

Children’s Voices from Gaza: Hopes Amid Hardship

In the midst of Gaza’s ongoing crisis, the voices of its youngest residents highlight both the profound challenges they face and their enduring hopes for a better future.

Twelve-year-old Islam Nazmi Robin Marouf, a sixth-grade student now residing in Jabalia Camp, shared his experience:

“The war was hard. Once, they bombed our house and pulled us out from under the rubble. After that, we went to my grandmother’s place in the camp schools. I wish the war would end, and we could eat meat again. Now, we are only eating from charity kitchens. We want to play, go back to school, and return to how things used to be.”

Similarly, nine-year-old Noorhan Ahmed Diab Al-Kafarne, currently sheltering at Umm al-Fahm School, expressed her wish:

“The war was difficult for me, and I wish for a truce so we can return to our homes. When I grow up, I want to become a dentist.”

These heartfelt testimonies underscore the immense impact of the conflict on Gaza’s children.

Their dreams and aspirations persist despite the adversity they face daily. Organizations like

Equalall remain committed to supporting these young voices, striving to provide not only essential aid but also a beacon of hope for a brighter future.

Other Ways You Can Help Gaza(Beyond Donating)

If donating isn’t an option, there are still powerful ways to support Gaza’s relief efforts:

    • Volunteering: You can volunteer with ground-level organisations and assist them with fundraising, awareness campaigns, or logistical support.

    • Organizing Fundraisers or Donation Drives: Host a community event, such as a bake sale, charity run, or online crowdfunding campaign on trusted platforms with Equalall to raise funds for Gaza. Involve schools, workplaces, or religious groups to amplify your impact. Share this fundraiser on social media with hashtags and do your part in helping Gaza.

    • Advocacy and Awareness: Use your voice to educate others about the crisis. Write to policymakers, share credible updates from sources like UN News, or organize peaceful activism events to call for humanitarian access and ceasefire. Engaging in interfaith dialogues can also foster solidarity across communities.

These actions, combined with donations, create a ripple effect of change, showing Gazans they are not alone.

The Power of Solidarity and Hope

The crisis in Gaza has sparked a global outpouring of solidarity, uniting people across faiths, cultures, and borders. Interfaith initiatives, such as joint Christian, Muslim, and Jewish prayer vigils, have emerged to advocate for peace and humanitarian aid. Grassroots movements emphasize the power of human empathy to transcend political divides.

Peaceful activism plays a vital role, too. Organizations with a presence in the Palestinian territories combine aid delivery with advocacy for a just resolution to the conflict. By supporting such groups, you contribute to a vision of hope where Gaza’s youth can rebuild their dreams. Despite the devastation, stories of resilience—like children attending Temporary Learning Spaces or volunteers risking their lives to distribute aid—shine as beacons of hope. Your compassion fuels this momentum, proving that humanity can prevail even in the darkest times.
